It's a functional low budget hotel nestled in a functional style building. The property's location is magnificent and amazing, very close to good restaurants, the center near a BART stop, and downtown San Francisco. Within 1 km you'll find Top of the Mark, where you can drink something...

Hotel staff was helpful when we asked for directions. Gave us clear and precise information on public transport. Room was basic but clean.
A rather depressing rather than welcoming mood. Probably because it's an old building.

The location is excellent! Its just around the corner of Union square. Everything is around you and the area is fairly safe as well. The staff is very friendly, even its just a small hotel but the facilities is very good..
The room is very small and basic. Its more like like a basic motel then. The bed is small as well even if you book a double bed it still small. They don't have a room with 2 single bed which is we more prefer. My partner had to sleep on the floor because the double bed was too small for both of us for our comfort when sleeping..

Should you go for it? My answer
Surprisingly good experience! The room I stayed in was super clean, with a comfy bed and a handy mini fridge. The location is fantastic, right by Union Square. Service was on point too, with friendly staff. Ideal for a budget-friendly stay without losing quality.

The hotel front staff were very helpful and friendly, especially Ridell, Excellent location near China Town, Market St and the Financial district, a no frills, clean, comfortable budget hotel that met our needs for a place to stay in the heart of the city at reasonable rate. Ridell graciously accomodated our request to change from a common bathroom to a in-room bathroom at a modest mark-up for which we were very appreciative.
Old fashioned elevator, a little quirky at times but got the job done overall. The antique elevator doors are a bit awkward and take some effort to open,

Location is phenomenal.
It was scary --- especially for single women. People live there --- it looked like a half-way house. Room looked like a jail cell. Not even cable television. I was afraid to sleep in the bed.
